Prohibited Items Policy

This policy identifies materials and activities that may not be offered, requested, transported, or removed through ScrapRunnerNYC.

Important: Do not post or handle stolen, explosive, toxic, infectious, radioactive, illegal, or otherwise prohibited material.

1. Overview

Users may not post, request, transport, transfer, purchase, remove, recycle, or dispose of unlawful, stolen, dangerous, or prohibited material through ScrapRunnerNYC.

2. Stolen or unauthorized property

  • Stolen metal, wire, tools, equipment, vehicles, fixtures, catalytic converters, or construction materials.
  • Property offered without the owner's permission.
  • Utility, railroad, municipal, government, or telecommunications property without documented authority.

3. Weapons and explosives

  • Firearms, ammunition, firearm parts, or destructive devices.
  • Explosives, fireworks, blasting material, grenades, or military ordnance.
  • Suspected unexploded devices.

4. Hazardous and toxic materials

  • Unknown chemicals, poisons, pesticides, solvents, acids, or corrosives.
  • Radioactive material.
  • Uncontained asbestos.
  • Infectious or regulated medical waste.
  • Hazardous waste requiring specialized transportation or disposal.

5. Pressurized and flammable materials

  • Leaking, damaged, or unidentified gas cylinders.
  • Fuel tanks or containers holding fuel or flammable residue.
  • Compressed systems that have not been safely depressurized.

6. Biological material

  • Human remains.
  • Medical sharps.
  • Blood-contaminated or infectious material.
  • Biological specimens or regulated animal waste.

7. Illegal goods

  • Illegal drugs or controlled substances.
  • Counterfeit goods.
  • Contraband.
  • Any item whose possession, transfer, transportation, or disposal is prohibited by law.

8. Regulated waste

Rubbish, trash, mixed waste, demolition debris, and commercial waste may only be handled by users with all required licenses, permits, insurance, and government authorization.

In New York City, commercial waste hauling may require authorization from the New York City Business Integrity Commission or another applicable agency.

9. Uncertain material

Do not touch, open, cut, drain, move, load, or transport suspicious material. Contact the property owner, emergency services, environmental authorities, or a qualified professional.

10. Enforcement

ScrapRunnerNYC may remove listings, suspend accounts, revoke credits or badges, preserve records, and report suspected illegal or dangerous activity.
