1. Scope of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through ScrapRunnerNYC websites, mobile and progressive web applications, account pages, text-message services, support channels, payment experiences, listing tools, pickup workflows, and related services collectively referred to as the “Services.”

This Privacy Policy does not govern the independent privacy practices of contractors, pickers, customers, waste haulers, recycling businesses, payment processors, mapping services, telecommunications providers, or other third parties.

By using the Services, you acknowledge the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information we collect

We collect information that you provide directly, information created through your use of the Services, and limited technical information collected automatically.

Account information

Account information may include:

  • first and last name;
  • phone number;
  • email address, when provided;
  • account role, such as customer, contractor, spotter, or picker;
  • profile image or avatar;
  • phone-verification status;
  • account status and account preferences; and
  • SMS opt-out preferences.

Listing and pickup information

When you create, view, claim, schedule, complete, cancel, or respond to a listing or pickup, we may collect:

  • pickup addresses and location coordinates;
  • material type and estimated volume;
  • listing descriptions and notes;
  • photos of scrap, rubbish, property, or completed work;
  • preferred-picker selections;
  • offer, claim, acceptance, rejection, and cancellation records;
  • scheduled pickup times and estimated arrival information;
  • arrival and completion timestamps;
  • completion notes;
  • reported weight or quantity collected;
  • proof-of-pickup photos; and
  • ratings, reviews, reports, and support messages.

Business and verification information

We may collect information submitted to verify identity, licensing, insurance, permits, or business qualifications, including:

  • driver’s license or identification documents;
  • hauling or scrap permits;
  • New York City Business Integrity Commission documentation;
  • insurance documentation;
  • business licenses;
  • issuing state;
  • document expiration dates;
  • limited document-number information, such as the last four characters;

  • rejection reasons; and
  • verification badges associated with an account.

Users should not submit full Social Security numbers, banking passwords, complete card numbers, or other information that ScrapRunnerNYC has not specifically requested.

3. Location information

ScrapRunnerNYC uses location information to create listings, display nearby opportunities, calculate approximate distances, generate addresses, provide mapping links, and coordinate pickups.

Location information may include:

  • latitude and longitude;
  • street address;
  • city, state, and postal code;
  • device-reported location accuracy;
  • pickup and arrival locations; and
  • addresses generated through geocoding or reverse geocoding.

Your browser or device may ask for permission before sharing precise location information. You may deny location access, but some listing, mapping, and nearby-pickup features may not work properly.

Do not create a listing for a private property unless you own the property, control the property, or have permission to use that address for the requested pickup.

4. Photos, media, and uploaded documents

Users may upload photos or other files relating to listings, pickups, avatars, completion proof, licenses, permits, insurance, and account verification.

Uploaded files may contain information visible within the image or file itself. Before uploading, users should remove or cover unnecessary personal information, document numbers, signatures, unrelated people, vehicle plates, home interiors, or confidential business information.

Uploaded files may be stored using third-party cloud-storage providers. Depending on the file type and platform workflow, a file may be accessible through a hosted file URL.

Verification documents are intended for review and account qualification purposes. ScrapRunnerNYC may record the document type, review result, expiration date, issuing state, and a limited portion of a document number.

5. Payments, credit purchases, and transaction information

ScrapRunnerNYC allows users to purchase digital credits and may offer additional paid features.

We may collect and retain:

  • the credit package purchased;
  • the number of credits purchased;
  • the amount and currency of a transaction;
  • payment status;
  • Stripe Checkout Session identifiers;

  • the listing, claim, or other platform action connected to a credit transaction; and
  • chargeback, dispute, reversal, or refund information.

Payment-card information is processed by third-party payment processors such as Stripe. ScrapRunnerNYC does not directly receive or store your complete payment-card number or card security code.

6. Text messages, phone numbers, and communications

ScrapRunnerNYC is a phone-first service and may use your phone number to provide account access and operational communications.

Communications may include:

We may retain communication-event records, including the recipient, message category, associated listing or claim, delivery status, timestamps, and error information.

When you reply to an operational ScrapRunnerNYC text message, we may process the content of the reply to update a pickup, schedule, claim, delay, arrival, completion, or release.

Message and data rates may apply. Mobile carriers and telecommunications providers process message routing and delivery under their own policies.

With your direction or consent

We may share information when you direct us to do so, request a feature that requires sharing, or otherwise provide consent.

11. Information visible to users or the public

Listings are intended to be viewed by eligible users searching for scrap, pickup, or removal opportunities.

Listing photos, material descriptions, estimated volume, approximate or exact pickup location, posting time, and availability status may be displayed through the Services.

Account names, avatars, roles, ratings, reputation information, and verification badges may also be visible to other users.

Do not include confidential information, unrelated personal information, access codes, financial information, or sensitive documents in a public listing description or photo.

Information shared with another user may be copied, saved, or used by that user outside ScrapRunnerNYC. We cannot fully control information after it has been disclosed to another independent user.

12. Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain transaction records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, comply with law, and protect users.

Retention periods may vary depending on the information involved:

  • Backups may retain deleted information temporarily until they are overwritten under normal backup procedures.

We may retain de-identified or aggregated information that no longer reasonably identifies an individual.

13. Data security

ScrapRunnerNYC uses administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, loss, or disclosure.

These measures may include:

14. Your privacy choices

Account information

If you no longer control a phone number associated with an account, contact ScrapRunnerNYC promptly.

You may request account deletion or request access to certain information associated with your account by contacting ScrapRunnerNYC.

Before processing a request, we may need to verify your identity, phone number, email address, account ownership, or other information.

Deleting an account does not necessarily delete every record immediately. ScrapRunnerNYC may retain information that is reasonably necessary to:

  • prevent fraud, evasion, or repeated policy violations;

  • request access to personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of certain information;
  • receive a copy of certain information in a portable format;
  • limit or object to certain uses of information;

  • not be discriminated against for exercising applicable privacy rights.

These rights are not absolute and may be subject to identity verification, exceptions, legal limitations, business-record requirements, and the applicability of a particular law to ScrapRunnerNYC.

ScrapRunnerNYC does not sell personal information for money. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To submit a privacy request, contact us using the information at the bottom of this policy and describe the request. We may ask for additional information to verify your identity and account.

When we update the policy, we will revise the effective date shown at the top of the page. We may also provide additional notice through the Services, by SMS, or by email when appropriate or legally required.

Your continued use of the Services after an updated policy becomes effective means that the updated policy applies to information collected and processed after that date, subject to applicable law.
